The Green-e Program

Lundberg Family Farms® is a founding member and continued supporter of the Green-e Marketplace program. Green-e was founded as an independent certification and verification agency for renewable energy credits (RECs). RECs represent the environmental benefits associated with renewable energy. Green-e is committed to developing a quality REC market and to increasing public awareness about renewable energy.

By purchasing renewable energy credits, we offset the environmental impact associated with the electricity delivered by our local utilities. Our investment in RECs promotes the development of new wind, solar and biomass projects, increasing the feasibility of renewable energy. Since 2003, we have been committed to purchasing RECs to offset 100% of the electricity used by our headquarters and our own production facilities.

For our current fiscal year, we anticipate offsetting 4,550 MWh of electricity consumed by our facilities... that's equivalent to 354 households’ electricity use for one year!

In 2004, the EPA Green Power Partnership awarded Lundberg Family Farms the Green Power Purchaser of the year award.

In 2008, we again received a EPA Green Power Partnership award, this time for our On-Site Generation.
